About Me
I am Foong Pooi Yin, a Malaysian counsellor with a corporate background based in Lyon, France since 2022. I welcome and support every person regarding gender, religious, skin colour, age, culture and whom they love and care.

What do I do?
I am a counsellor adopting an integrative and expressive approach rooted in evidence-based cognitive focus therapy. This approach draws on cognitive behavioural principle blended with transpersonal, gestalt, and psychodynamic principles.
To facilitate the transformation, I draw on modalities such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, Sandplay Therapy and Symbol Work.

Who do I work with?

I work with children, teenagers, and adults through a range of presenting issues including: stress, anxiety, depression, low self esteem, lack of confidence, social challenges, relocation, cultural adjustment and issues related to long term illness or medical conditions.

What are my qualifications?
I hold a Master Degree in Social Science (Professional Counselling) (2017), being trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (2017), Schema Therapy (2019), Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (2019), Sandplay Therapy and Symbol Work in children, adolescent and adult (2021).
What is my background?
I am originally from Malaysia and have been working in the corporate medical industry for over 15 years in Malaysia and Singapore. The corporate job gave me the opportunity to travel around the world and work with people from multiple backgrounds.
I came to counselling to follow my calling in life with the growing realisation that in order to function and excel, many of the people I worked with would do so by shutting away their emotions and cares.
My journey in counselling began from 2017 as a counsellor at Singapore Cancer Rehabilitation Centre where we used a holistic approach to support cancer survivors on their recovery journey.
I became a private practitioner in 2018 offering individual therapy sessions for children, teenagers and adults as well as providing trainings and workshops to corporate and public organisations on topics related to mental wellness and conducting psychological first aid workshop.
I am a proud daughter, spouse and mother of my family. After spending 15 years in Singapore, we relocated to Lyon, France for my spouse's work. We are a multicultural family where the West meets the East and vice versa.
I speak multiple languages including English, Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese and Hokkien), Malay and currently learning French.
